Concert Tours & National Broadcast
From 1929 to 1936, the Society performed in New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Delaware, President Roosevelt’s White House and nationwide over the NBC radio network. Siporatin' Line (1936, now playing) was one of the spirituals that was broadcast.
As the organization gained funds from these events, a system of regular contributions to needy individuals and institutions in the African-American community was implemented. It also invested in publications and recordings to make a permanent record of this music for future generations.
